Grandstand

Located in the Mossa area, this grandstand offers a close-up view of the point where the horses and jockeys prepare for the start of the Palio. From this position, you can closely follow the line-up between the canapi (starting ropes) and the tense moments leading up to the start.

Our grandstand seats are located in shaded areas of Piazza del Campo. You must reach your viewing position by 4:45 PM. Once the Historical Parade (Corteo Storico) has begun, you will not be able to leave the grandstand until the Palio has ended. The parade begins shortly after 5:00 PM (slightly earlier in August) and lasts approximately two hours. The Palio takes place after the parade, and the event generally ends at around 8:15 PM.

The grandstands do not have restroom facilities and do not provide food or beverage service. We therefore recommend using the bars, cafés and restroom facilities available near Piazza del Campo before reaching your viewing position. Whether plastic bottles containing drinks or small snacks may be brought into the grandstand is subject to the security regulations in place for the event.

Experience one of the most authentic traditions of the Palio by taking part in the Cena della Prova Generale (Contrada Dinner), organized by the Contrade on the evening before the Palio (July 1 or August 15). Long tables fill the streets and squares of the Contrada, bringing together Contrada members and guests in a unique atmosphere of celebration, tradition and anticipation for the Palio. Dinner begins at approximately 8:45 PM and includes a traditional menu accompanied by local wine. Attendance is by invitation only, and the hosting Contrada will be communicated before the event.

Plan a few extra days in Siena
The Palio may be postponed due to rain or if track conditions do not allow the event to take place. We recommend planning your stay to include at least the two days following the scheduled date of the Palio.

Your ticket remains valid if the Palio is postponed
Your ticket will remain valid until the Palio is actually held. If you are unable to attend on the rescheduled date, no refund will be provided.

Cancellations and resale
In case of cancellation by the customer, a refund is not guaranteed and is subject to the conditions set out in our Cancellation Policy. If the Palio is postponed, we do not provide a ticket resale or relocation service.

Arrive in Siena well in advance
On the day of the Palio, traffic restrictions and access limitations to Piazza del Campo will be in place. We recommend arriving well in advance and carefully following the final instructions you will receive before the event.
